Kindness Is Important In Life

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

FSU Football Player Shows Tremendous Kindness

I came across this article about FSU football player Travis Rudolph here. Travis Rudolph showed tremendous kindness by sitting down with an autistic child at Bo Paske who was sitting alone at lunch at his school by himself.

By Associated Press and Myriah Towner For “‘This is one day I didn’t have to worry if my sweet boy ate alone’: Touching moment Florida State University football player eats lunch with an autistic sixth grader”

For one day, a mother said she did not have to worry about her son eating lunch by himself after he was joined by Florida State University wide receiver Travis Rudolph.

A sweet photo capturing Rudolph and autistic sixth-grader Bo Paske having lunch on Tuesday at Tallahassee’s Montford Middle School has since circulated on social media.

The 20-year-old was among five football players visiting the school to meet with students when he saw Bo by himself at a table in the lunch room, and asked if he could sit with him.

He said the two had a great conversation, calling Bo a ‘cool’ person who he would hang out with any day.

Rudolph told that one of Bo’s first questions during their conversation was if he was in the NFL, which he replied, ‘not yet’.

He also said Bo shared with him how much he loves Florida State.

Leah Paske, Bo’s mother, was moved to tears and said she is grateful for the kindness Rudolph showed her son, who has autism and often eats lunch alone.

In a world that has a lot of tragedy, problems and hatred, I think it’s important to write about acts like this by football player Travis Rudolph. It speaks volumes of Mr. Rudolph’s character. I hope Mr. Travis Rudolph gets to play NFL football.

Gene Wilder Has Passed Away

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

RIP Gene Wilder

Found out yesterday that the great actor Gene Wilder has passed away. He was 83 years when he passed away. Our company would like to pay our deepest respects to this great actor. Here is an article which discusses his passing away: Passing Of A Great Actor.

Richard Natale of Variety writes in his article entitled “Gene Wilder, ‘Willy Wonka’ Star and Comedic Icon, Dies at 83:”

Gene Wilder, who regularly stole the show in such comedic gems as “The Producers,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” and “Stir Crazy,” died Monday at his home in Stamford, Conn. His nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman said he died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 83.

His nephew said in a statement, “We understand for all the emotional and physical challenges this situation presented we have been among the lucky ones — this illness-pirate, unlike in so many cases, never stole his ability to recognize those that were closest to him, nor took command of his central-gentle-life affirming core personality. The decision to wait until this time to disclose his condition wasn’t vanity, but more so that the countless young children that would smile or call out to him “there’s Willy Wonka,” would not have to be then exposed to an adult referencing illness or trouble and causing delight to travel to worry, disappointment or confusion. He simply couldn’t bear the idea of one less smile in the world.

He continued to enjoy art, music, and kissing with his leading lady of the last twenty-five years, Karen. He danced down a church aisle at a wedding as parent of the groom and ring bearer, held countless afternoon movie western marathons and delighted in the company of beloved ones.”

Gene Wilder

I think most everybody remembers Gene Wilder when played in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. I remember watching him when I was a kid in that particular movie. Sure will miss him. Rest in Peace Gene Wilder. My condolences to his friends, family and fans.

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Very Successful Trade Show At the International Woodworking Fair For My Client

I worked at the International Woodworking Fair for a client as a trade show magician and let me tell you, we kicked butt! I was extremely pleased with how trade show magic helped my client tremendously. We also did a lot of planning ahead of time too before the actual trade show event, so this pre-planning ahead of time definitely paid off! I worked with my client on a sales script beforehand that incorporated certain magic tricks that would be ideal to catch the attention of working men and women who work in the wood cabinet industry and other similar industries.

I like to choose magic tricks that are quick, fast and mind blowing that way I can immediately capture people who are walking by the exhibit. The tricks has to be mind blowing as well especially when you are dealing with tough, sharp minded working people. So, the choice of my tricks worked extremely well for this particular successful event. I would also like to tell you if you want excellent value and you are in the woodworking industry, then I strongly encourage you to check out my client’s website here: CNC Factory Website.

The client I represented at the International Woodworking Fair was CNC Factory, Inc. I really enjoyed working for this company and I had a ball! I worked very hard but I also had a great time! CNC Factory, Inc. had a very successful trade show at the IWF. I was very proud to be apart of their team and to be able to help them do a great job! Here is a picture of CNC Factory’s team and myself after having a highly successful trade show:

This particular company sells various CNC machines for the modern woodworking and plastic company. Check out their website and give them a call and owner of the company Chris will be willing to get you a great deal!

Got one of my first major trade show gigs here recently and tomorrow is the big day! Already tested out the sound equipment, got a script wrote, hotel reserved, clothes ironed and all my company paperwork caught up with. I’m doing pretty good at staying on the ball. Been working hard too though! I’ll be performing at the Georgia World Congress for the International National Woodworking Fair for the company CNC Factory. You can check out the IWF website here: IWF Website.

selling product

So, according to their website, this is a convention in which design and material processing companies come together:

IWF wrote on it’s website:

The International Woodworking Fair® is where the material processing and design industries come together to solve problems, find solutions, share ideas with friends old and new, feature architectural woodwork, and reconnect with your customers.

I’ll be staying pretty busy the entire 4 days working my butt off! But I am also excited! It looks like this convention will have all kinds of symposiums as well from reading their education tab on their website.

IWF website wrote:

The IWF 2016 Education Conference will offer a broad spectrum of industry related topics throughout the duration of IWF 2016. We will be offering 6 All-Day Symposiums focused on several industry related topics on Tuesday, August 23 which is the day before IWF 2016 officially opens. We are also offering a wide variety of Education Sessions that take place Wednesday through Friday during the IWF 2016 Fair.

According to this part of their website the IWF will offer a closets symposium, exploring countertop options symposium, finishing symposium, veneering symposium, wood composites symposium and wood flooring symposium. So this is definately going to be a convention where companies are looking to be selling product and doing some business. It seems like their is going to be a lot to see and do at this particular convention for this particular industry. Anyway, time to end this blog post here and get ready to hit the road!

Los Angeles Might Host 2024 Olympics?

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Los Angeles Hopes To Host 2024 Olympics

It’s about 8 years from now, but Loas Angeles hopes to host the 2024 Olympics. I hope they get it so long as it proves beneficial to Los Angeles, it’s economy and the state of California’s economy. Here is a news article on it.

Alexander Wolff of Sports Illustrated writes in his article “California Gold Rush: Los Angeles makes its case for hosting the 2024 Olympics”

The effort to land an Olympics is essentially a political campaign with an electorate of roughly 90 voters and no bad-mouthing of rivals allowed. In a post-Salt Lake City world, outright bribery has given way to decorous persuasion. IOC rules limited L.A.’s promotional space to 20 square meters, and the only greased palms were those of visitors who opened tubes of sunscreen graced with the bid’s slogan, FOLLOW THE SUN. You win votes by advancing your best arguments and tugging at heartstrings while hoping that random events break your way. And L.A. is catching just such a break during these Olympics. Of the four bidders, no city is flattered more than Los Angeles in contrast to Rio.

Los Angeles

Sounds like being selected to host the Olympics is a lot of politics though. I have heard that some cities who have hosted the Olympics they actually lost money. If hosting the Olympics ends up doing more harm than good for a city’s, state’s and country’s economy, then why bother other than it’s great to keep the Olympic tradition alive? Sounds like Rio also had it’s own host of problems too when it hosted the Olympics:

Alexander Wolff of Sports Illustrated writes in his article “California Gold Rush: Los Angeles makes its case for hosting the 2024 Olympics”

For almost every one of Rio’s troublesome zigs, L.A. is proposing a corrective zag. Shambles of an athletes’ village? L.A. would house Olympians in dorms on the Shangri-la of college campuses, UCLA. Forced relocations to accommodate new venues? All but one of the permanent venues already exists, and transport infrastructure is paid for and largely built. Public protests over hosting? A recent Loyola Marymount poll put Angelenos’ support for the Games at 85.2%. Unforeseen descent into recession? California’s current economic boom might end by the time the IOC votes, in September 2017—but early budget figures pegged L.A.’s outlays at about a third of the $15 billion that Tokyo will spend in 2020. L.A. even foresees a surplus of roughly $161 million, a credible figure given that the 1984 Games wound up $225 million in the black. In Rio, athletes’ safety, clear pool and bay water, and supplies of food in venues got shorted. The L.A. committee is essentially invoking IOC president Thomas Bach’s Agenda 2020—a manifesto that calls for cost containment and putting athletes first—and daring the membership to follow it.

According to the above quote though, it sounds like some cities ended up in the black hosting the Olympics though. So, it could be beneficial for people who host the Olympics! I am sure Los Angeles will do a good job of taking care of the athletes if they are chosen to host the Olympics in 2024 as well.

Sound System Arrived Yesterday

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Ordered A New Sound System For My Trade Shows

It’s been really busy this whole week. Just non-stop work. Last night I worked at Applebees from 7pm-9pm. Tomorrow I got a gig in Atlanta, GA as well at the Georgia Tech Hotel. Tuesday I will be checking into my hotel in Atlanta as well the day before the trade show I will be working. I am also finishing up the script for the trade show tonight. Been working hard. Last night I had to test out my new sound system as well. It’s a nice small PA system idea for trade show booths. It came with a wireless adapter in which you can plug in a lapel microphone or a small headset.

I was experimenting with the “gain” on the wireless adapter where you plug in the lapel mic or the headset mic. You don’t want to get any feedback from the speaker, that’s for sure, Your ears will be hurting. So, I learned you have to adjust the wireless adapter “gain” to the ideal location to maximize how well you are heard without getting any feedback screeching sound that will hurt your ears.

Sound System

Not only that, but by reading the owners manual on the sound system, I found I can adjust the tone as well, lower the “gain” on the wireless adapter and turn up the speaker volume to where my voice can be heard loud and clear without getting any loud screech noise feedback if you get too close to the speaker. The PA system I ordered for my trade show gigs is the Amazing Amp BT. I also bought the warranty with it as well. This particular PA sound system was recommended to me by a good friend of mine. In addition to talking, you can also play music on it at the same time. It also permits having another person talking with you. The system came with some rechargeable 8.4 Volt batteries but the system can also take 9 volt batteries too from what I read in the manual. I couldn’t find a decent charger for the rechargeable 8.4 volt batteries so I am going to visit a specialty battery shop tomorrow in my local area given they were not open today.

I did however, buy a few 9 volt batteries and tested them out on my new sound system to be sure they worked properly and they did. So, it’s good to know you can use 9 volt batteries on the wireless adapters with no problems. Well, time to get back to script writing!

Week Is Going To Be Busy!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

It’s Going To Be A Busy Week

Tonight, I will be working at Applebees in Perry, GA from 7pm-9pm. I will also be having family and friends coming over. We have already made some food for them so that they have plenty to eat and we are getting the swimming pool ready as well because they want to jump in and have a good time. My company has been keeping me so busy that I hadn’t had any time to do much pool maintenance the past two weeks. I have some other family members right now taking care of it so that the swimming pool is up to standards before anybody jumps into it today.

So, tonight, I have my Applebees gig tonight, then after I come home I will be working on a script for a trade show client. Last night I worked on it as well. Plus, on top of having to do all my other company duties and respond to other clients as well. Living the dream! The American Dream! All part of owning and operating a business. I am very grateful for everything. Monday, I will be doing a strolling gig at Georgia Tech. Then on Tuesday I will be checking into my hotel in Atlanta to prepare for my trade show event. From there I will be working 24, 25, 26, 27th helping CNC Factory generate leads and sell product doing trade show magic at their booth. I am excited and looking forward to it. Here are some top reasons for companies to attend a trade show: Top Reasons To Attend A Trade Show.

Then afterwards, I got to pick my wife up at the airport. She will be flying in from Boston because she had to work too. From their, both the wife and I go to Birmingham, Alabama because we have an event we are booked for their too. So, as you can see, I have a pretty busy week coming.

Amber Heard Donates To Charity

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Looks Like Amber Heard Shuts The Haters Up

Amber heard is going to be donating her 7 million dollar settlement from her Johnny Dep divorce to charity. Congrats to her and glad to see her shutting up the haters by giving up her divorce settlement to charity. I also wish the best for her and her future. Here is an article which discusses her divorce from Johnny Depp: Latest Hollywood News

Amber Heard

Andrea Park of CBS News writes in her article “Amber Heard donates $7 million divorce settlement to charity:”

Amber Heard is hitting back at haters who called her a gold-digger after she filed for divorce from Johnny Depp — and she’s giving back to the community while she’s at it.

Heard announced that she will donate her $7 million settlement from her divorce to charity.

She said in a statement, “As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves.”

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalize $7 million divorce

“As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7 million, and $7 million is being donated. This is over and above any funds that I have given away in the past and will continue to give away in the future.”

Heard, who alleges that Depp physically abused her, said she will donate some of the money to domestic violence victims.

I honestly have no idea what happened between these two and it’s none of my business. However, I felt it was good that she donated her divorce settlement to charity where it could be used to help the less fortunate. Well, I have to get back to work on my company! Hope you guys enjoy the above article! Got lots to do for my upcoming magic gigs!

Goals And Writing Them Down Are Important

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Writing Down Specific Goals Every Day Helps Make Things Happen

Things have really been picking up for me here lately. I attribute a lot of that to the fact that I write down specific goals EVERY DAY. These objectives are not goals for the day, but rather long term obejectives that I am seeking to obtain. Having a dream is one thing. Having objectives to achieve some of your dreams are somewhat different from the dreams themselves, but not entirely. Most dreams don’t have a deadline. But a goal is a dream with a deadline to achieve that dream. There is an acronym that comes with writing down long term objectives. It’s called “SMART.” S stands for specific, M stands for measurable, A stands for achievable, R stands for relevant and T stands for time based. Here is a website link that describes this acronym: S.M.A.R.T. Acronym .

Specific means what is to be accomplished exactly? How will when you know when it is done. It can’t be too general and it has to be a very specific objective. If it’s too general you won’t know if it’s really done or not. Measurable means how will you know when it meets some kind of standard that is measured by quantity, quality, frequency, costs, deadlines, amount of money and so on. Achievable is basically another way of saying setting a realistic goal that the person who is setting it will be able to achieve.

The objective has to be reasonable and not unrealistic. Perhaps one mistake that many people make is setting unrealistic goals or setting such a high goal that it’s very unlikely to be achievable. So, it’s important to set realistic goals. I think this is also very important part of the SMART acronym. Relevant is if this objective should be done and does it fit in with your dreams. You don’t want to pursue a goal that doesn’t fit your dreams. So, if a goal doesn’t fit your dreams, it’s not relevant and you shouldn’t be pursuing it! So, you want to be sure the objective you have is relevant to your dreams. Not only that, your goals need to align with your values. You don’t want to set goals that conflict with your values. Value are IMPORTANT and so when writing down relevant goals using the S.M.A.R.T. acronym, you want to make sure that goal aligns with your dreams but also with your values.

Time based in the SMART acronym is setting a deadline for that goal to be achieved. This helps to create a sense of urgency in getting this objective done. Having a sense of urgency is extremely important to motivating you to work and get goals accomplished. Without that sense of urgency, there is also a lack of motivation to complete the goal. So making an objective time based adds urgency which in turn adds motivation to you to get it done. This is extremely important. This is the acronym I follow when writing down my long term goals EVERY DAY.

When writing down your goals that meet this S.M.A.R.T. acronym, you also need to write down a plan to achieve those long term goals you have written down that are within that S.M.A.R.T. acronym paradigm. If you don’t have a plan to achieve your long term written down goals, then you are planning to fail. Fail to plan, plan to fail. So you got to have a plan! Not only do you want to have a plan to achieve your goals, but you don’t want to write down your goals just one time and then forget them. You are less likely to achieve your goals then if you just write them down one time and then just forget them. You need to write down these long term goals EVERY SINGLE DAY and don’t miss a day! This keeps you focused on those goals. If you don’t write them down every day, then you are going to lose focus on achieving your goals and following the plan to achieve those goals.

In addition to writing down my long term goals every day, I also write down a “Daily To Do List.” This is also very important as well. After I write down long term goal list that follows the acronym S.M.A.R.T. I then write down the tasks I want to complete for the day. These tasks involve making progress towards those long term objectives and follow the plan that I have in place to achieve those long term objectives. A “daily to do list” is important so that you you have tasks to do every day, that follow the plan to achieve your long term objectives that you write down every day that follow the S.M.A.R.T acronym. You do everything I have written in this blog post and you will be absolutely amazed at what you can achieve.

Generally, when choosing long term objectives that I want to complete, I think of things that will really improve my life and make my life better and happier and then I write them down. These are dreams and then I choose one of these dreams or long term objectives that would do the most to make my life happier and improve my life the most and then that becomes my primary long term objective. This has been called by authors like Brian Tracy your “Major Definite Purpose.” The Major Definite Purpose is the goal, that is also in harmony (and not in conflict) with your other long term goals that will do the most to improve your life, make your life better and make you a happier person. I write that down particular objective down with my other long term objectives every day too but I write it down as my Major Definite Purpose.

I really, genuinely and honestly hope that this blog post is read by everybody. It will help you as this has helped me. One of my goals is to help others achieve the happiness they deserve as well. God Bless y’all!

Volleyball Win For US Olympic Team

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Looks Like Women’s Volleyball Got A Big Win For Team USA

Congrats to Team USA’s win over the Aussie’s in Olympic women’s volleyball. Very good game! Here is some information on the game:

Carrie Waltemeyer writes in her article “U.S. women knock out Aussies to advance to beach volleyball semifinals:”

Walsh Jennings/Ross are now 5-0, dropping just one set in their quest for Rio gold. The U.S. women will face off against second-seeded Brazilians Agatha and Barbara in the semifinal round.

On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Brazilian duo Larissa and Talita will take on Germany’s Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst. Larissa/Talita narrowly beat 17th-seeded Heidrich/Zumkehr of Switzerland 21-23, 27-25, 15-13 to advance to the semifinals.

Looks like Kerrie Walsh Jennings was also facing an old foe was well in the Olympics:

Carrie Waltemeyer writes in her article “Sydney flashback: Kerri Walsh Jennings to face former indoor opponent on sand:”

Kerri Walsh Jennings is making her fifth consecutive Olympic appearance, her fourth in beach, at the Rio Games. She’s hoping to grab her fourth consecutive Olympic gold and claim the shining accolades that come with the lofty goal; be the first volleyball player to win four gold medals, the third U.S. woman to win gold at four different Games, and the oldest medalist in beach volleyball history.

To achieve those goals, she’ll have to beat Louise Bawden and Taliqua Clancy to advance to the semifinals of the Rio Olympic beach volleyball tournament.

While Walsh Jenning switched to beach volleyball shortly after the Sydney Games, Bawden stuck to indoor. After the Australian women failed to qualify for the Athens Games, she took time to focus on school and began working in communications.

But when the Aussie attended the Beijing Games as a spectator, seeing world class athletes inspired her to return to the sport, though opting to make the switch to sand. By 2012, Bawden was back in peak form and qualified for the London Games with Becchara Palmer.

Well, I hope the women’s team representing Team USA in beach volleyball win the gold medal! Go USA and good luck!
