Just as soon as I got up in the morning I was going a hundred miles a minute! Wife and I are getting ready to head up to Michigan to visit with my grandmother. She is in poor health right now so we thought it important to go up and see her. Had to run off to Enterprise Rent A Car to be sure I had a rental car ready to go for a gig this weekend that I have just before I drive off to Michigan to visit. Then I had to run all over the place running errands and paying bills and such like we all do. Also had to run and check the company mail too while I was at. So, it’s just been a non-stop day. And doing other company business as well on top of that. Should be a lot of fun and interesting to take this trip to Michigan to see my grandmother. You know, it’s been soo long since I have been up to Michigan. I wonder what it looks like now?
I remember when I was a kid visiting my grandparents in the 1980s and they lived on a farm and I remember all the cows. My grandfather had passed away when I was serving a deployment with the Georgia Army National Guard in Bosnia and my company commander at the time really needed the manpower and asked me not to go. So, I stayed with my fellow soldiers at the time. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my grandfather, just that my buddies also needed me too and I wanted to be there to be sure everything was safe for them too. Not that it was a bad deployment by any means. Just wanted to do my duty as a soldier at the time and not let my unit down or my country down.
But I have fond memories of living in upstate New York in the 1980s when both my parents were in the Air Force when I was a kid back then. We would drive through Ontario, Canada to get to Michigan much quicker. That was before the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and America was much different back then. Much easier back then to go to Canada and travel through there. But today, you have to have a passport to go to Canada. That’s a pain. I could get one easily, just that you have to pay all kinds of money to get a passport and wait for all the paperwork to finish processing. Just a big hassle. It’s not like the old days back in the 80s where you didn’t need a passport to cross the border. Well, anyway, time to end this blog post here!
