Feeling Pretty Good Today

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I am beginning to feel pretty good!  I think my body needed a day or two just to recuperate after working hard and going strong.  But now, I am beginning to feel my body and mind come back to feeling refreshed and feeling good.  You know, after working a lot for days on end, eventually, you got to stop for a day or two and just allow your body to recover, otherwise, you won’t be as productive if you just keep trudging ahead.  I think it has been well worth kinda having this weekend to relax a little.

Yesterday, family came over and we all jumped in the swimming pool!  It was a nice sunny day so it was a great time to do it!  Felt very relaxing and refreshing to get in the pool and just have fun swimming around.  I also took the time to play Witcher III which is a great game by the way.  Well worth the money in my opinion buying this game!  Today, I am going to watch some YouTube videos on “Mansions of Madness” so I can get a good handle on that particular board game.  I really enjoy going to YouTube.  You can find all kinds of instructional videos on YouTube on just about anything.  I use it to learn the rules to new games I have purchased.  So, I think, besides following up on potential leads today, I am also going to YouTube and watch a few instructional videos on Mansions of Madness with all it’s expansions.

Listening To Some Kathy Mattea “18 Wheels And A Dozen Roses”

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I think this song fits me well given as much travel I do in my line of work as a professional magician: .  I don’t drive an 18 wheeler truck but rather a rental car to travel to gigs.  But in show business, you are pretty much going to spend a lot of time on the road traveling to gigs like a band does and a magician is no different.  It’s a great song to listen to when driving back home after a long weekend of working gigs.  It certainly speaks to my heart and soul when I am on the road.

Just Ordered Board Game Called “Dungeons and Dragons: Conquest of Nareth”

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Well, I just broke down and bought a board game called “Dungeons and Dragons:  Conquest of Nareth.”  It looks like a fantasy world conquest game.  It’s an interesting concept but I heard a lot of great things about the game and I think my brother in law and I would get a great kick out of playing this board game.  You can play with just two players too, so that’s great!  Brother in law will be coming over tomorrow and we plan on playing “Mansions of Madness” as well.  I have a lot of reading to do, but it’s hard to balance time between running a company, maintaining a swimming pool, playing Witcher III and then trying to read all the rules to Mansions of Madness.  There is so much a person can get himself into.

I reckon I’ll just have to prioritize what I got to do.  Family first, then the company, then having a good time.  Tonight, I’ll be working at Applebee’s.  So, I’ll be there from 7pm-9pm.  Looking forward to performing!  Should be great fun and looking forward to trying out some of my newer magic tricks.  I’ve already tried them out and they work, but I enjoy performing some of my newer magic tricks.  Plus, it looks like I have this weekend free and I am booked pretty good through June.  I had a great month in May as well, so to have this weekend off, to have had a great month in May and to be booked pretty good in June, makes me happy!

Got the Pool Scrubbed and Chemicals Added Yesterday

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Put some elbow grease behind scrubbing down the pool liner with the pole and pool brush.  I scrub the pool liner once a week after adding chemicals like chlorine to the water and also take a sample of water from the swimming pool to the pool store to have the water tested to see what chemicals, if any, need to be added.  Right now, the swimming pool has crystal clear water.  I like to take good care of the swimming pool and keep it looking nice for the family and any guests my family decides to have over.  It’s pretty nice being able to sit on the deck at the steel weather resistant table, in a chair, with umbrella providing shade, sun is out, weather is nice and looking out over a well maintained and well taken care of pool and just see the crystal clear water, sipping on a cup of coffee.  Nothing beats that!  I am all about enjoying the simple things in life that many people seem to take for granted.

Mansions of Madness Expansion “Call of the Wild” Actually Pretty Good and Interesting

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

The Mansions of Madness board game expansion called “Call of the Wild” is actually a pretty fun little expansion.  I really enjoyed playing a little of it yesterday with my brother in law.  I bought the expansion about a year or two ago and then never played it.   It just kinda sat there with the rest of my board games.  So, my brother in law noticed it and decided he wanted to come over and play it.  So, I agreed.  As it turns out, a pretty good decision as the expansion is fun.  I just have a few questions on it which I will have to research the rule book and the Fantasy Flight Game website for it.  One of the cool part of the new additions to the expansion is the use of “allies” in the game.  Basically extras in the game that give the players tasks to complete and information to help solve a mystery in the game.  If and when I get the opportunity, I might take a closer look at the rule book to get a better understanding of the rules of this new expansion.

We weren’t able to finish playing the game, mainly because we didn’t have a full understanding of the rules but also because I had an old friend stop by to visit. It has been years since I have seen my old friend.  He lives down in Florida and says he will be needing my help to move his dad down.  His dad is in pretty bad health, so he and his wife will be watching over him down in Florida.  He says the cost of living is more expensive down in Florida as opposed to Georgia but not as expensive as say Vermont or California for example.  Must be really cool to have the beach close by and all the tourist destinations close by like Walt Disney World, MGM and Universal Studios (I guess they changed the name to some of these tourist attractions).  One day I would like to visit some of the Disney Studios.  I don’t know if I will ever be able to make it down there.  We’ll see.

Brother In Law Decided To Come Over To Play “Mansions of Madness”

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Was busy all weekend long and yesterday was kind of a “recovery” day from a long weekend of performing gigs and traveling.  So, had to get up early in the morning, return the rental car and then do a few other company duties.  My brother in law really wanted to play the expansion to “Mansions of Madness” entitled “Call of the Wild” so I agreed to play.  So today will be a “working” day off to play “Mansions of Madness” with my brother in law and wife.  The game certainly has a lot of pieces to it.  We are all getting the game ready right now at the table fixing to play one of the stories from the expansion of the game.  Should be interesting.  I haven’t played this game in sooooo long.  I am going to have to review the rules again and refamiliarize myself with them.  Well, time to end this blog post here.  Take care!

Had To Leave Out In A Hurry Yesterday

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Had to leave out to my gig in a hurry yesterday so I wasn’t able to write as long a blog post as I like.  Got another gig today.  The good news is I got a gig today and tomorrow, I don’t have any gigs on Memorial Day, so I will be able to relax and take time to reflect back on our country’s past war and those who gave their lives for our country.  I am a veteran myself, so, it’s something I will be doing is paying my respects to the fallen of our country’s past wars.

I’ll also go right back to playing the video game Witcher III Wild Hunt!  It’s a pretty good game.  Hadn’t been able to play it here in the past day because of being on the road and performing shows.  Tomorrow, I’ll have the chance.  Well, this will be another short blog post as I got another gig today and have to be ready!

Got The Witcher III Wild Hunt Strategy Guide

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Well, I broke down and got the Witcher III Strategy Guide Collector’s Edition.  It’s a huge hardback strategy guide!  Lots and lots of quests in this particular game.  So, it seems the game is broke down into primary quests and secondary quests.  The strategy guide seems well worth the purchase.  For the most part the book shows how to beat all the primary and secondary quests.  The game also has a card game in it, called Gwent, which is similar to “Magic The Gathering” card game.

The strategy guide shows you how to build a Gwent deck as well as find new Gwent cards for your deck.  You can play various NPCs in a game of Gwent.  So, it’s kinda interesting to see how you can play a card game within this particular game that is similar to the card game, “Magic The Gathering.”  I think Witcher III is trying to appeal to RPG gamers as well as people who enjoy a good game of “Magic The Gathering.”

I like the slant of the game to where you are like this hunting professional as well with some some slight magical powers and ways to enhance your weapons as well as your abilities and magic powers.  So it’s a good happy balance and something different besides just simply creating a character of your class choosing.  I like that aspect to the game as well.  Overall, I think I would give the strategy guide and game 5 stars out of 5 stars.
