Got Swamped And Hammered With Company Work and Bought Wife A Birthday Present!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I am getting hammered today with a bunch of work from my company and then having to run a bunch of personal errands.  Still have work for my company to do.  Just been extremely busy given that I have a growing company and then having family obligations to take care of.  Bought my wife a gift certificate at Hobby Lobby!  She was thrilled to get it and she is really big on crafts.  Hobby Lobby is one of her favorite stores!  I was glad to be able to get her the birthday gift she wanted.  So, I reckon I will see her going to Hobby Lobby to spend her gift certificate.

Other than that, just been following up on a bunch of leads I have received.  Hoping to get a few more bookings!  Well, y’all take care!  Got to close this blog post down and do more work for the company!

Cool Pictures From One of My Gigs This Past Weekend

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Hello folks!

I just wanted to share a few pictures from a children’s magic show I performed this past weekend.  Everybody had a great time!  My company had a face painter, I performed the children’s magic show and twisted balloon animals for the kids.  Here are a few fun moments from that event:

Here is a one with me and the “Security” detail performing a magic trick during the show:

Looking Forward To Relaxing Today

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Worked hard entertaining folks yesterday and last night.  Had a great time at the 1-46 Infantry Regiment’s Military Ball.  Had the opportunity to see people go to the “Grog Bowl!”  I guess that’s how you spell it correctly.  So, it was kinda cool to see that.  I think the military folks really enjoyed the magic and had a great time.  The first gig before the Army ball gig also went well too.    I have a few pictures taken from one of my gigs yesterday and right now I am trying to figure out exactly how to get it off my phone and post it up here on the blog.  Haven’t figured out how to do that yet, but I am going to work on it today and post a few pictures up tomorrow.  Right now, I am ready to just chill and recuperate from doing multiple gigs from yesterday.  You guys have a great Sunday!

Been Getting Ready For The Weekend

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Got a couple of gig this weekend, one being the US Army’s 1-46 Infantry Regiment’s Torchlight Ball in Columbus, GA and another is a private gig.  So, got my suit out of the dry cleaners and making sure I got all my magic stuff organized and ready to go as well as rental car reserved.  Should be a fun weekend!  I will be using one of my new magic tricks to honor birthday guests this weekend as well.  Been using it at Applebee’s when I perform there and it works really well!  So, I know this particular trick is going to be perfect for this weekend at a private booked birthday event.

Aside from that, I have been booking plenty of gigs for the month of April and May.  So, that is great news for my company!  Very happy and pleased!  Well, time for me to close this blog post here and get things ready.  Y’all have a great weekend!

Honored To Be Performing For 1-46 Infantry At 28th Annual Torchlight Formal Ball

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Well, I have been booked to perform for the US Army’s 1-46 Infantry Regiment for their 28th Annual Torchlight Formal this coming Saturday in Columbus, Georgia.  This is a great honor for me and I appreciate 1-46 Infantry booking me for this event.  I am very much looking forward to this event.  I am always proud and glad to perform for our troops!

I am kinda curious what this ball will be like.  I have never really attended a military ball, even during my time in the Army National Guard.  I hear these formal Army balls are pretty cool, so not only is this going to be a great honor, but a lot of fun too!  Anyway, time for me to get back to work!

Feeling Sick and Run Down Today

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Seems like a few of my family members have been sick and now I am sick.  I’ll be trying to take it easy today because I guess I need to.  But I also like to stay on top of things with my company.  Still, feeling a little run down and will take things slow.  Might try to do a few follow ups later on in the day.  Well time for me to close this blog post here and get some rest.

Running A Lot Of Errands And Administrative Work

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Been doing a lot of administrative work for the company today as well as having to run a lot of errands.  Trying to stay on top of taking my fish oil.  Wife and I went to the vitamin store to get some good fish oil.  It’s probably not as good as what I usually get online with Salmon Oil Plus, but it will tie me over until the end of the month when I get paid.  The brand I got was Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega.  Hopefully it’s a good quality brand that is a good temporary substitute for Salmon Oil Plus.

Also had to run around doing some errands for the company as well and doing some administrative work.  Things seem to be going well, so I am happy.  Not really too much to write about today, so I guess I will keep this blog post short and simple.

Getting Into Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Video Game

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Played a little bit of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag last night on my PS4.  Really getting into the game and opened up a few new Islands in the game in the Caribbean by playing a few of the main storyline campaign missions.  So, now I am in Kingston in the game.  I really get a kick out of the pirate shanties and as you captain your pirate ship the shanties you can get your crew to sing are pretty cool.  From what I understand, Ubisoft made the game based on actual, real historical pirate shanties from the time of I think late 1600s to early 1700s before the American Revolutionary War.  You also meet some actual historical figures in the game as well.

The naval battles you can get into in the game are pretty fun but I also like to go inland and play some of the ground missions.  I even met Black Beard in the game!  Pretty interesting and a fun way to learn about history!  Right now, I have been going between Assassin’s Creed Unity which takes place during the French Revolution in Paris, France and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag which takes place in the late 1600s to early 1700s in the Caribbean during the “Golden Age of Piracy.”  I am personally a big fan of history, so the Assassin’s Creed franchise is right up my alley and I really enjoy the games in this particular franchise.

Happy Birthday To My Wife and Visiting With Family!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Had some relatives stop in to visit.  So, it was nice to be able to have them come over and eat some steak, baked chicken tenderloin smothered in one of my recipes of hot wing sauce that I learned from my brother in law and eat some mashed potatoes and corn.   So, it’s just been a slow Sunday where I had the opportunity to just hang out, grill some steaks and eat some good food and just relax and visit with the family.  Family is very important to my wife and I and we are always happy to have them come and visit us.

In addition to having family come over, we also celebrated my wife’s birthday.  My wife’s birthday was on the 19th of March, but we celebrated it today because it was the best day for the family to get together.  So we had spice cake with vanilla icing, my wife’s favorite.  She was happy and both my wife and I enjoy the simple things in life:  just having family and friends come over to celebrate her birthday and have a day to relax.  With that being said, I just want to express my love and gratitude to my wife and wish her a wonderful, happy birthday!

Knocked It Out Of The Park Today Performing For Client!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Knocked it out of the park today performing for one of my clients who booked me for a children’s magic show!  My children’s magic show has really come a long ways and improved and has become very creative and entertaining.  Got some of the older kids as “security guards” wearing tough guy macho looking sunglasses with yellow security t-shirts with the words “SECURITY” on them.  They kinda act as “guards” during the show to keep the other kids back because the kids in the audience will sometimes get excited and get up out of their chairs or seats and want to come up front where I am performing.  So I yell “Security! Security” and the other two older kids acting as “security” rush forward and get the other kid to sit down.  It’s pretty funny and the parents get a kick out of it!

I also use my “Brillo the Dog” which is a wooden box made to look like a dog  and have him make lollipops magically appear at the end of the show to reward the kids for behaving during the show.  I chose this “Brillo the Dog” because I actually do have a real life dog named Brillo in my house.  So it’s “me” to have a “Brillo the Dog” in my show, though he is not a live animal or live dog.  I use him as a running gag throughout my show and talk to him and “crank his tail” to and then check to see if he had made any lollipops “magically” appear by opening the drawer box and showing the kids so they can see if the drawer box is empty or full of lollipops (and it’s empty until the end of the show when i do one last final crank and suddenly lollipops “magically” appear and the drawer box is full of them).

What I mean by “cranking his tail” is I have this crank at the back of the wooden box made and painted up to look like a dog tail and when you turn the crank it makes a ratchet sound and gets the kids attention on the wooden box dog named ‘Brillo the Dog’ to see if he has a present for them.  I use it as an opportunity to “talk” to the dog and interaction with the wooden box dog and the kids and get the kids excited and interacting in the magic show.  So, he’s a great running gag to turn to from time to time and provides fodder for funny, silly comedy moments during the show.

I’ve also added some new magic tricks to my children’s magic show and fixing to add another new magic trick.  The new magic tricks went over very well in my last children’s magic show tonight.  So, I was very proud and happy to see how well everybody enjoyed the new magic tricks.  Overall, I feel tonight has been a spectacular success and the parents really got into the show and enjoyed it as well.  I also have the mother of the birthday child come up during the show and I perform a few tricks for her and get the kids to thank mom for organizing the birthday party as well as dad if he was part of organizing it too.  I am very proud and happy with how well my children’s magic show has progressed and gotten better over time with experience and performance time and hard work on it.

That being said, I also have some new tricks for my adult show and will be working on improving the adult close up magic show.  Fixing to get back to work studying comedy to improve upon my adult magic show.  Much work to be done but I am excited and looking forward to it!  It’s going to be great fun and also a lot of work!  But I enjoy it!
