Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C.
Knocked it out of the park today performing for one of my clients who booked me for a children’s magic show! My children’s magic show has really come a long ways and improved and has become very creative and entertaining. Got some of the older kids as “security guards” wearing tough guy macho looking sunglasses with yellow security t-shirts with the words “SECURITY” on them. They kinda act as “guards” during the show to keep the other kids back because the kids in the audience will sometimes get excited and get up out of their chairs or seats and want to come up front where I am performing. So I yell “Security! Security” and the other two older kids acting as “security” rush forward and get the other kid to sit down. It’s pretty funny and the parents get a kick out of it!
I also use my “Brillo the Dog” which is a wooden box made to look like a dog and have him make lollipops magically appear at the end of the show to reward the kids for behaving during the show. I chose this “Brillo the Dog” because I actually do have a real life dog named Brillo in my house. So it’s “me” to have a “Brillo the Dog” in my show, though he is not a live animal or live dog. I use him as a running gag throughout my show and talk to him and “crank his tail” to and then check to see if he had made any lollipops “magically” appear by opening the drawer box and showing the kids so they can see if the drawer box is empty or full of lollipops (and it’s empty until the end of the show when i do one last final crank and suddenly lollipops “magically” appear and the drawer box is full of them).
What I mean by “cranking his tail” is I have this crank at the back of the wooden box made and painted up to look like a dog tail and when you turn the crank it makes a ratchet sound and gets the kids attention on the wooden box dog named ‘Brillo the Dog’ to see if he has a present for them. I use it as an opportunity to “talk” to the dog and interaction with the wooden box dog and the kids and get the kids excited and interacting in the magic show. So, he’s a great running gag to turn to from time to time and provides fodder for funny, silly comedy moments during the show.
I’ve also added some new magic tricks to my children’s magic show and fixing to add another new magic trick. The new magic tricks went over very well in my last children’s magic show tonight. So, I was very proud and happy to see how well everybody enjoyed the new magic tricks. Overall, I feel tonight has been a spectacular success and the parents really got into the show and enjoyed it as well. I also have the mother of the birthday child come up during the show and I perform a few tricks for her and get the kids to thank mom for organizing the birthday party as well as dad if he was part of organizing it too. I am very proud and happy with how well my children’s magic show has progressed and gotten better over time with experience and performance time and hard work on it.
That being said, I also have some new tricks for my adult show and will be working on improving the adult close up magic show. Fixing to get back to work studying comedy to improve upon my adult magic show. Much work to be done but I am excited and looking forward to it! It’s going to be great fun and also a lot of work! But I enjoy it!
