Had A Great Time Performing For the Students of UGA In Athens, GA, Celebrating Birthday Today!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I performed at Snelling Commons dining hall at UGA yesterday evening!  Had a great time performing for the students there!  UGA has a huge college campus and just before my performance start time I went to the local Starbucks there and it was filled with college kids studying away for their classes while drinking coffee.  I like to stop by a local Starbucks in the area I will be performing and grab a cup of coffee, organize my tackle box full of magic tricks and just kinda go over what I will be performing in my mind for the booked event just before the actual event.

I use a tackle box to organize my close up magic stuff.   Very useful in keeping things organized, though I guess when I sometimes carry it around, people might think I am going fishing or something when in reality, it’s just something I use to keep my magic organized.  Snelling Commons at the UGA campus is a dining facility where the college students go to eat and they were having some sort of special event yesterday with a magic theme to it.  So, they had hired me to come and perform for their students.  Had a great time and glad to have had the opportunity!

My birthday was yesterday but because I had a booking at UGA, wasn’t able to celebrate it yesterday.  So, today I will be celebrating my birthday with my family.  Turned 38 years old yesterday.  Getting old man!  My brother in law called me an “old fart.”  My wife will be making lasagne for me today and my mother baked me a chocolate cake.  Nothing like my wife and mother’s home cooking!  My sister and brother in law and his family also want to pick a day to celebrate my birthday with my family but they won’t be able to do it today.  So, they are wanting to have a different day where we all get together and celebrate it.   But today, I will be celebrating it with my wife and mother.  Anyway, y’all take care!

Proud Of My Mother

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Well my is fixing to go on 6 months without smoking a cigarette.  Glad she decided to quit smoking!  She has done very well hasn’t lit a cigarette as far as I can tell for the past 6 months.  She is sick right now, so the wife and I have been running errands around town to get her medicine and the food she needs.  We do our best to look out for our mother and we’re tremendously proud that she has stopped smoking and hasn’t smoked going on 6 months now.

Right now I am getting back to tweeting on Twitter as well as getting ready for a VA doctor’s appointment.  Well time for me to split!  Take care!

Didn’t Get A Chance To Relax!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Well, I was hoping to be able to relax a little yesterday, but my mother came down sick, so I had to take her to urgent care yesterday.  Didn’t have much sleep when I had to do so.  Ohh well, family is first priority over everything else!  Had to run around to a few stores buying my mother some Gatorade, saltine crackers, my wife bought her bananas and applesauce and I had to go get her medicine the doctor prescribed her.  Urgent care took a long time though to see my mother, so we ended having to wait for a long time before she got any service from the doctor.

Then today I had to make sure all my company’s tax paperwork was in order and having to pay corporate taxes in the state of Alabama.  It’s amazing how much paperwork a company tax return can generate and I have certainly learned to appreciate how much money companies pay in taxes and fees to various different states and the IRS.  It’s a lot of responsibility keeping up with all the paperwork and making sure taxes are paid in a timely manner.  So, I had to spend most of the day getting all the paperwork on that taken care of and I am not just getting to this blog post.

I think perhaps after this blog post, I will try and take a moment to chill, but then, if I did that, i will miss some of my follow ups with potential customers that I need to take care.  I need to do a few follow ups after this post but will probably leave most of my follow ups for tomorrow just to give me a chance to relax for a little bit.  Well, time to end this blog post here.  Have an awesome day!

Tired and Ready To Relax A Little

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Worked hard all weekend and am exhausted.  Generally, when people are off enjoying their weekends, I am working.  I also work on the weekdays as well but the weekends in my line of work is especially busy.  So, I think today is going to be a good day just to relax a little bit and recuperate.  I think it’s important to have some time to relax a little.  You work all the time and never relax and that can be bad for you.  Probably have to do some follow ups today.  Well, time for me to end this post here.

Had a ball last night entertaining some folks at a party.  Have another event I have to work today! Here is a picture from last night:

This is a picture of some of the folks I was performing strolling magic for with myself in the middle last night.  They absolutely loved the performance and I really enjoyed entertaining their event!

Staying busy as usual.  In the middle of getting ready for another event.  Weekends are generally a busy time for me.  Anyway, sorry to make this blog post short, but have to get things done.  Take care!

Getting Older These Days

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I was looking at some old pictures of my class when I was in junior high and high school and it doesn’t seem as long ago as it really was.  It’s amazing how fast time flies!  Man, you are a young fellow and then before you know you it, in the blink of an eye, you are a middle aged fellow.  I felt kinda old looking at pictures of from my days back in junior high and high school and then seeing some of my classmates on Facebook and how they look today and how some of them have kids of their own or nieces and nephews.  Even had a few tell me they were fixing to be grandparents!  I was like WOW!

That being said I think some my favorite memories were when I was in high school at Northside High School where I graduated.  I ran cross country, track and wrestled my junior and senior year at the school.  I think my two best years of high school were my junior and senior years.  I also have a lot of fond memories of when I was young child back in the 1980s in Plattsburgh, New York.

Music from back then was awesome and it seem like times were happier, simpler and better.  That being said, I think today are good ole days too though!  But I remember the old air force base in Plattsburgh, New York that my parents were stationed at while they were in the Air Force when I was a kid, playing ice hockey and watching Top Gun in the movie theater at that particular air force base.  Back then, Top Gun was a big hit and I remember sitting in that Plattsburgh Air Force Base theater when it first came out to the movies watching it.  Now, it’s a classic.  Anyway, time for me to close this post here.  Take care and hope everybody has a great weekend!

Very Busy Tonight At Applebees

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Just got back performing over at Applebees in Perry, GA.  It was a pretty busy night tonight and they were packed out.  Great to see all the customers there at the restaurant and the place have a very busy night.  I stayed really busy as well entertaining the guests waiting to be seated and got a whole bunch of requests from various different tables who wanted me to stop by and perform magic as well as make them some balloon animals.

The balloon animals and magic both were a big hit.  I have upped my game on the balloon animals and can make even more different type animals and shapes than before.  I also keep an awesome game with magic as well.  I aim to be awesome at both my magic and the balloon animals.  I am able to make a teddy bear and a heart balloon animal.  So, now what I am wanting to learn how to do is take the teddy bear and make it hug the heart.  That would be cool!  I know some balloon artists make the heart and then also make the teddy bear and have the teddy bear hugging the heart.  That will be one of next projects to learn how to do.

Another request that I get a lot is to make a balloon hat.  I don’t know how to make a balloon hat.  Go figure!  I can make a flower, sword, dog, girraff, heart, butterfly and teddy bear, but can’t make a balloon hat.  So learning how to make a balloon hat along with getting the teddy bear to hug the heart are my two next projects.

On the magic side of the house, I am looking to get more magic tricks I can do to honor an adult birthday guest as well as a birthday guest for the children’s magic show.  I already have a list of ideas on how to do that with a variety of different magic tricks.  Pretty exicited about that too!

This weekend is going to be a very busy weekend and I am booked solid!  This is good news for me and I am glad and happy to have the bookings.  It’s going to be a great and wonderful weekend performing magic!  Alright, you guys take care and have an awesome weekend yourself!

Been Cold Here Lately, but Going Out For A Walk Today Anyway

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I’ll be heading out for a walk today.  It was pretty cold yesterday and I didn’t go out walking, but today, I am going to do it anyway even if it is cold.  I don’t want to slack off because of the cold weather.  Cold weather does encourage people to stay inside though!   It’s no fun walking outside when it’s cold and have your hands freezing or what have you.  Guess I need to make sure I wear gloves this time around.   I made sure I wore my jacket the other day, but I didn’t wear any gloves and had to put my hands in my jacket pocket.

I also snapped this picture on my last walk the other day:

Maybe to some it’s not much, but me personally, I have always enjoyed just being outside, smelling the fresh air, looking at the beautiful trees and just enjoying the beautiful scenery of the neighborhood.  Been in this neighborhood since 1990 so it’s been about 25 years I have been in this neighborhood.  Much has changed in the world but the neighborhood has changed a little but not too much.  It used to be more a military neighborhood when I first moved here, but since then most of the military families move to places like Kathleen, I assume because the schools are better in that area from what I hear.

When I first moved here, the best schools were districted in my neighborhood from what I understand, which is why at the time, a lot of military families at that time moved to my neighborhood.  I have seen the Air Force and the military in general change a lot since 1990 and the 1980s when I was a military brat.  Right now, I just had a ton of work land in my lap for my company, so I am having to close this blog post down and get on it!  Take care!
