Worked This Weekend And Watching Old TV Show “Tour of Duty”

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

My family traveled up to Tennessee for my sister’s baby shower.  She is going to be having a daughter soon, if I remember correctly she is due in May.  Family is also celebrating Easter.  My wife went up there for the baby shower and to celebrate Easter as well.  I had to stay behind to work a gig for my business.  That’s just part of owning a business is working on the holidays.

I have been watching an old TV series called “Tour of Duty” and it’s a pretty good TV show (or was a good TV show, it was a show that aired back in the 1980s).  We have the TV show on DVD, so I have been watching it.   It’s a great TV show and reminded me of my time when I was serving in the military.  The episode I have been watching is pretty intense and dramatic.  I feel tired right now, so it’s time for me to end this blog post here.  Good night!

Performed A New Card Trick

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Well, a new great card trick  It was a very good trick and people loved it.  The effect is basically a spectator’s card vanishes from a packet of piles and then somehow, ends up magically in the magicians wallet.  This trick was a big hit at the restaurant I performed at tonight.

In addition to performing a new trick at my restaurants, I have also been reading up on the Pathfinder RPG game and getting a new prepped up for my group.  Should be lots of fun.  Also been reading some lecture notes by fellow magicians.  Some great ideas in those lecture notes.  Well time for me to end this post here!

Request After Request

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I was very happy that when I was working at Applebee’s that I recieved request after request after request from people to have me come to their table to perform magic.  I ended up staying an hour more to keep honor the requests and then I still had plenty of requests!  So, that’s a good thing.  It’s still important to remain focused and keep customers satisfied.  Applebee’s was also happy too.  So that’s good.

I am also reading up the Pathfinder RPG and prepping up a new game for my group to play.  We are still playing the basic game, but myself and another player in my group have been reading the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook.  I got the dungeon drawn up on the game I am prepping up so now I am working on various encounters to fill the dungeon.  Putting at least one puzzle, maybe a riddle as well as a rolepalying encounter and obstacles in addition to some monster for their characters to fight.  I am enjoying being a game-master for Pathfinder and designing my own dungeons and adverntures for my groups players to play.  Anyway, time for me to end this blog post here.  Take care!

Been Practicing Card To Wallet and Playing XCom

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I am learning a pretty good version of Card To Wallet by atlanta magician Joe Turner.  Very good card to wallet, but it’s going to take some practice, so I have spent a good deal of my day practicing this particular trick.  Also took a trip up Eddie’s Trick Shop in Marietta, GA and attended a lecture and the lecture was excellent.  I can’t remember his exact name, but the guy was pretty funny and definately knew how to tell some cool and funny stories and keep people interested.  Man, wish I could tell stories like that guy did.  He was great fun to talk with.  It’s amazing to see all the talent out there.  Some very talented magicians.

I also been playing a new Xbox game called “Xcom” which I played the PC version when I was much younger at a time when graphics on video games were not as good.  It seems like a remake of the old game with much better graphics.  It’s a lot of fun to play and pretty interesting.  Well, time to end this blog post here.  Take care!

Attended A Magic Lecture At Eddie’s Trick Shop in Marietta, Georgia

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

It’s been a very busy day for me today.  I had a great time at Eddie’s Trick Shop attending a lecture today.  It was a very good and valuable lecture.  Glad I took the time to attend.  I also got Atlanta Magician, Joe Turner’s lecture notes on some of his magic.  He has some excellent ideas and performance skills.  I think Joe Turner and Dan Garret are some of Atlanta’s best and greatest magicians.  I know there is also a card magician that is really good in Atlanta but I haven’t seen him recently attending any of the IBM Ring 9 meetings.  It would be great to see him attend again as his skills were really awesome.  I also took the time to buy a few tricks at Eddie’s Trick shop as well, but I am really looking forward to reading Joe Turner’s lecture notes.  Well, time for me to end this blog post here!

Wife and I Enjoy Playing Xbox 360

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

After working hard performing at restaurant gigs and private events, it’s nice to be able to take some of your hard earned cash and get a cool Xbox 360.  I bought the Xbox 360 for my wife as a birthday present given that she has wanted one for a long time.  She was very surprised when she got it.  Her favorite game to play is Fable 2.  We also got an HDMI cord for the Xbox 360 that way we can view the games in HDTV.  Wow!  What a difference!  Graphics look really awesome using the HDMI cord and viewing it with HDTV!  A game I have been playing a lot is Darksiders II which game with the Xbox along with Batman Arkham City.  They are both very good and spectacular games.  You can tell the gaming companies put a lot of hard work and effort into their product to make great games!  Probably, once I get a chance, I will get a game called XCom.  This game I used to play when I was a teenager back in the 1990s.  Now they have a new, modern version of the game for Xbox 360 which I look forward to playing once I am able to buy the game.  Wife and I also plan to get an extra controller along with the Kinect.   The Xbox Kinect is also really awesome and good for exercise.  Well, time for me to end this blog post here.  Y’all take care!

I Am On Gigmasters Now!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I just wanted to announce that I am now on Gigmasters!  Here is the url to my Gigmasters profile here: .  It’s very similar to my website, but I thought it smart to also advertise with them as well given that many people turn to Gigmasters when seeking to hire entertainment.  In addition to Gigmasters, I will also put a profile up on Thumbtack.  So, this will increase the company’s exposure.  Hopefully, this expanded effort at advertisement will yield some results.  Only time will tell!  I will be keeping track of return on investment for each of these and if I don’t see a return on investment, then I will stop advertising with those particular companies.  Well, time for me to end this blog post here!  Good night!

Getting Ready For Marco’s Pizza Gig

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Worked my Applebee’s gig yesterday and will be getting ready for Marco’s Pizza gig today.  Looking forward to working the gig and had a good time performing at Applebee’s yesterday.  I performed a trick that is not exactly new, but a trick I have not performed in a long time and never performed at the Applebee’s in Macon (or Perry for that matter).  It’s a fun trick that is a transposition, though, I am not going to give the exact name of the trick here on this blog.  I enjoyed performing it and I think the customers at Applebee’s really enjoyed it too!  Today, I will probably float a dollar bill in the air, but I am not experimenting with floating other objects such as a deck of cards or fork.   That should be pretty interesting.  Time for me to end this blog post here.  You guys have a great day!

Messing Around With Xbox 360

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Today,  my wife and I was trying out her birthday present that I got her:  an Xbox 360.  Seems like a pretty cool little device for playing video games and watching Netflix.  I am a Netflix fanatic, so I really enjoy watching Netflix off the Xbox 360 as opposed to my wife’s Kindle Fire.  I had been watching Netflix off my wife’s Kindle Fire, but now I am using her Xbox 360 to watch Netflix.  She also played a game called Fable 2 which appears to be an RPG game that you can play on the Xbox.  I played a game that came with the Xbox called Darksiders II which was fun, but I don’t want to get too addicted as I have much to do with the business and also I have more fun playing Pathfinder game which is not a video game but a real RPG game played with dice and paper.  Anyway, the Xbox is really nice and I am glad my wife enjoys it and I also enjoy it myself.  We’ll probably get a game called XCOM when get the chance.  Y’all take care!

Played An Awesome Game of Pathfinder

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

My wife, brother in law and myself played a great game of Pathfinder.  Played for a very long time and the only reason why we stopped was because my brother in law had to go to work, otherwise, we would have just kept going.  So, the game had to stop at a cliffhanger.  It was a lot of fun!  I was the game master for the game and my GMing style is a “on the fly” free spirited, use your imagination where you make things up on the fly.  This is good because the characters, which are played by the other players can basically do what they want in the imaginary world and they tell you what they are doing and the GM tells them what happens, which requires you to use your imagination and make things up on “on the fly.”  I had a dungeon of course, planning out which they did go to, but many things happen unexpectedly so as the GM you have to make things up “on the fly” or “on the go.”  That’s a big part of the fun of the game is the use of your imagination and doing your part to make the game come to life.  Pretty cool and boatloads of fun.  Playing this game, I am reminded by what Albert Einstien once said:  “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”  Very true what he said.
