Floating Bill, New Trick I Am Performing, Is Very Popular

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Performed at my Applebee’s restaurant gig in Macon today.   I have gotten very good at performing the trick “The Floating Dollar Bill”  and it is a very popular trick with the customers there.  I really enjoy and like the trick as well.  There is also few other objects I am looking to levitate such as forks, ice cubes, deck of cards and float a cigarette (though I don’t smoke).  The floating cigarette looks pretty awesome, especially when the magician floats the lit cigarette up to his mouth and then into his lips so he can puff and smoke the cigarette in a smooth magical way.

Tomorrow will be a busy day as well.  I will be performing at the Cracker Barrel located at 2700 Watson Boulevard from 11am-1pm and then at Marco’s Pizza from 6pm-8pm.  I’ll have my work cut out for me!  But I will be bringing some new tricks as well to Marco’s Pizza, so  I think the regulars will really enjoy them.  Anyway, time for me to split!  Take care!

Getting Ready For The Busy Restaurant Week!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Well starting tomorrow will be a busy week of restaurant gigs at Cracker Barrel, Applebee’s and Marco’s Pizza!  Also been practicing my magic show as well.   So, I have been pretty busy!  I am enjoying my close up magic show as well because it makes me to have to exercise my creative mind as an artist.  It’s important to have a fine balance between creativity and focus because without both you can’t accomplish creative goals.  But that is one of the most fun aspects about creating your own magic show is the creative part of it.

Excitement About A New Idea And Theme For Close Up Magic Show

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I am pretty excited at a new idea I have been researching and writing about for my close up magic show for a specific audience:  volunteers.    I found a theme that I know a lot about and which could be used to easily connect with that specific audience I will be performing for.   In the close up magic show I will be talking about the importance of service and why it is important as well as relate some my experiences of service to the audience.  That way the audience get an opportunity to know me and who I am.  I think it’s important as part of a show that the audience gets to know you and who you are and that you put yourself into the creation of the show.  I’ll talk about some of my time in the military serving our country as part of the show as well as some of my personal growth that came about from my military service.  I am also listening to other peoples’ ideas on service and what it really means.  I have actually heard some very interesting ideas I have never even thought about that is well worth researching.  I am going to research on some of these ideas and probably include them as part of my show.  Well, time to end the post here!

Worked A Good 4 Hour Shift At Applebee’s

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

After recovering from sickness yesterday, I went on to work 4 hours at Applebee’s today.  It was very busy and I had a great time!  But we were also swamped with customers.  I stayed mostly up front, completely surrounded by customers, entertaining customers completely surrounded.  Very tough to do when you are a close up magician.  But all you can do is adapt and overcome, that’s all you can do.  I was happy to have the extra work, so thank you Applebee’s!

One thing I will probably do is at the beginning of March some time is resupply some items I am need of.  Some items got lost or used up in the performance of magic, so eventually, I have to order some new supplies.  That’s one thing I really need to do and will do in March.  Anyway, my wife needs to use the computer, so it’s time for me to close this post!  Take care!

Was Pretty Sick Today

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

It was pretty rough today.  Unfortunately, I was unable to go to my gig to Applebee’s in Perry this Friday.  I hope to feel good to make it, today, Saturday.  I was bed ridden the entire day because of being sick.  Hardly ever got up!  Well, today will be a short blog post given that I don’t have much to write about.  Take care!

Watched Animal Planet’s “Glory Hounds”

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Just finished watching a TV show, Animal Planet’s “Glory Hounds.”  Excellent TV show about the war dogs serving in Afghanistan.  The dogs did a very good job of sniffing out IEDs and helping to keep our soldiers and marines safe.  It was also very heartbreaking to see one of the dogs KIA in Afghanistan.  I was mad when I saw that on TV.  Mad as hell!  It was also interesting to see that dogs also develop PTSD just like humans do.   Even had one of the dogs get evaluated after it survived a close call from an IED blast.  Vet had to send the dog back home because it needed to mentally recover.  That’s pretty interesting how dogs suffer some of the things that humans do.  Well, it’s late and time for me to end this post here.  Y’all take care!

Laughing At The TV Show “American Dad”

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Sitting here watching the TV show “American Dad” and laughing like crazy!  The mother in the show was talking about the importance of family dinner on a Sunday and how it is an opportunity for the family to bond. Then the father drives up to the kitchen window as if he was going through a fast food joint and started ordering food.  So much for “family bonding” at Sunday dinner.  It was pretty funny.  Anyway, worked my gig at Applebee’s in Macon and performed the “floating bill” at the end of my restaurant gig.  Pretty cool trick.  The bill started floating up right out of my hand.  People really seemed to like that trick.  Anyway, it’s late and time for me to close this blog post here!  Take care!

Performed For Membership in International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 9 and Got Accepted

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Last night, I performed for the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 9 for membership and at the end of the night the members voted me in.  I was very happy to be voted in!  It was pretty intimidating performing in front of a group of magicians because of the wealth of knowledge and experience they have in the art of magic and the possibility they could be more critically critiquing you given it is their profession as well as my own and most have high standards when it comes to the performance of the art.  So, it was intimidating, but I was grateful to have the experience to be able to perform in front of them which was valuable.  IBM Ring 9 of Atlanta has a lot of great talent.  I am impressed with the magicians of the new magic club I am now a member of.   The club also challenges your magical creativity and to become a better performer.  Very good fellowship  with the magicians there!  Anyway, time for me to end this blog post here!  Thanks IBM Ring 9 for the opportunity to perform and voting me in!

Magic Club Meeting Today!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

A few of my friends and myself will be traveling up to Atlanta today to attend IBM Ring 9 club meeting.  I will be performing Michael Ammar’s “Bill To Nut” magic trick.  It takes some serious time to prepare but it’s well worth it.  I have also been practicing a different version of “The Floating Bill.”  I think it’s the best very I have seen so far for “The Floating Bill” trick.  Really enjoy performing it.  I remember long ago a magician doing an interesting version of the trick as well where the bill floated up to his face but was a good distance away from his face.  I am trying to remember how exactly he accomplished that feat.  Well, today is the day that it is decided if I make it into the magic club based on my performance of “The Bill To Nut.”  I am looking forward to it!

Have A Busy Week Coming Up!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Got some extra restaurant bookings this week!  Looking forward to working the extra gigs, so I am pretty happy.  I also just watched a netflix documentary on North Korea.  Wow man!  What an evil state!  Unbelievable what that dictator in North Korea has done to his own people.  Very sad how the people in North Korea must live.  It was a good documentary about an eye doctor who goes to North Korea to operate on people who are blind or have cataracts in their eyes.  It was an also an opportunity to secretly film a documentary too while they were in North Korea.  National Geographic made the documentary but it was eye opening to watch and see how people in North Korea live.
