Hard Work Tonight

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Tonight was hard work, but also fun too.  Anybody who tells you that entertaining people is not hard work might not be completely honest with you.  Entertaining folks and doing your job right as an entertainer is hard work.  It’s fun, but it’s still work.  It’s also very rewarding.  Running a business whether it be in the entertainment industry or any industry is hard work.  But, I am glad because hard work creates a sense of self worth and pride too.  I am very proud to have made it as far as I have.  However, I am not going to let it go to my head.  Right now, just waiting for Facebook to approve my ad.  Anyway, been a long night and it’s time for me to get some sleep.  Later!

Tomorrow, I got my gig at Applebee’s in Macon.  Looking forward to it as I always have a good time.  Kinda late right now, but I felt I needed to post something on my blog.  Sorry for the short post y’all.  Anyway, time to split!  Later!

It’s Been A Good Weekend

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician , Special Offers

It’s been a good weekend.  Worked my two restaurant gigs at Applebee’s in Perry, GA and Wow Cafe and Wingery in Warner Robins, GA.  I am also very pleased with the progress of the company.   Just need to keep up the hard work and keep putting the customer first.

My wife and I went out to eat tonight and really enjoyed ourselves and relaxed while chit chatting a bit.  It was great after working hard to just be able to get out with my wife, spend some time with her and take her out to eat.  I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful wife.  Tomorrow, I am going to continue to develop my close up magic show, plus look at learning some new magic tricks.  I am always looking for ways to improve my magic.  The art of magic is a very challenging and tough art to learn and master but also has great rewards for those who work hard at it, are persistent and patient.  Also, the company has a Facebook ad promoting our landing page for those to like our company page, vote on the magic tricks shown in the videos and be entered to win a restaurant gift certificate.  Hopefully, people will respond to the ad and the incentives.  Well, I hope everybody reading this tonight had a wonderful weekend!  Many thanks to all of you who have been supportive of the company and the art of magic!

Thanksgiving, Black Friday And Working

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Had a great, relaxing time at Thanksgiving!  Went over to the brother in law’s house and had some fried and smoked turkey along with mashed potatoes, turkey stuffing and turkey gravy!  It was very filling and awesome!  Then we just chilled out watching TV and throwing the football around outside in the backyard.  The next day was “Black Friday” so my wife grabs the wallet and the bank card and goes out into town shopping.  She comes back with a bag full of stuff.  I was glad she was able to buy the things she wanted to buy for Christmas gifts.  Today was more of a working day for me.  Been writing some HTML on the company’s Facebook business page and embedding some Youtube videos for people who like the page to vote on (which magic trick should be included in my close up magic show).  Two of those videos are uploaded in the fan only section of the “Vote!” tab.  Waiting for the third video to finish uploading on Youtube.  Anyway, I hope everybody had an awesome Thanksgiving!  Y’all take care!

Thanksgiving Here Soon!

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

Just got back from a gig at the Macon Applebee’s (2574 Riverside Dr).  Had a blast and a good time as I usually do.  My showmanship is getting better.   Since I have gotten awesome with my sleight of hand when it comes to the new magic tricks, I am now able to just throw a cool, funny personality into the mix which makes the magic not only mind blowing but much more entertaining and fun to perform.

Well, it won’t be long before Thanksgiving.  Will be going over to visit with family and have a feast big enough to feed an army.  Heck, my family is about the size of an army and with appetites about the size of an army too!   So, I reckon we better have plenty of food to feed everybody.  Well, I am certainly looking forward to the holidays and just having a relaxing day!

Picking a Venue For An Event

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

The best way to pick a venue for a party or event will depend on the type of event or if your party has a theme.  Personally, I think it’s a great idea to have a theme for a party and some events.  If you have a theme for your party or event then it helps in choosing and picking a venue.

If your party or event has a theme, then choose venues that are related to the chosen theme.  Choosing a venue related to the theme creates the atmosphere for the entire party or event.  Maybe you have a horror theme for your party in which case perhaps an old creepy house that you might see in a haunted house movie or horror flick would be a good choice for the venue of that particular party for example.

Another thing to consider when it comes to a venue is cost and saving money.  We all want to get the best deal possible when it comes to renting a venue.  Here are some money saving tips when looking for a venue:

1)  Consider lower cost alternatives such as local parks, community centers, church social halls, lodges and clubs.

2)  Fridays and Sundays are usually in less demand than Saturdays.  Some facilities might discount their rates on these days, so it’s a good idea to ask for a discount while renting their facility on these specific days.

3)  Book the venue in advance.  You could avoid extra fees from waiting to book too late.

4)  Sometimes a venue might be on a time schedule for keeping the space constantly booked.  If this is the case and you are booking at the last minute based on the venue’s time schedule, ask for a special deal.  The venue management most likely would rather have someone rent the space instead of letting it go empty.

Other things to consider when choosing a venue is the number of guests you are going to have at your event and whether you want most people to be standing up and mingling or if the party is going to be a sit down event.  If the venue is going to be an outside event you will also want to have a contingency plan in place for your event just in case of bad weather.  Hopefully, some of these tips and ideas help you save money and better choose a good venue for your party or event!

Got A Kick Out Of Old “Tales From the Crypt” Movie Entitled “Demon Knight”

By Davenport Magical Entertainment, L.L.C. | Atlanta Magician

I was watching on Netflix an old movie from the HBO TV series “Tales From the Crypt” called “Demon Knight” and the villain in the story, the demon was hilarious.  He made that movie!  The ending was pretty good and I thought it left open the door to a good sequel.  To my knowledge, a sequel to this movie was never made.  If a sequel was ever made, it will be hard to find somebody who could do as good a job as the actor who played the villain in this particular movie.  Well, I would recommend this movie to anybody who enjoys a comedy/horror theme.  I watched it many years ago when it first came out and it was good to watch it again and still was just as entertaining.  You know a movie is good when you first watch it and love the movie and then years and decades later you watch it again and still is just as good as when you first saw it many many years ago.
