Well, Memorial Day weekend is coming up. It is a time to remember those who paid with their lives while serving our great country. Most will spend time with family and friends while others will take time out to attend Memorial Day events to honor the fallen. I am a veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard and the war in Afghanistan and SFOR peacekeeping operations in Bosnia, so for me, Memorial Day is important. I make it a point to pay my respects to our fallen service members who died during their service to our country. It is important for people to understand that they died so that others may live. We have a duty to make sure these service members are not forgotten and that they are honored and remembered. The only thing worse than dying is being forgotten.
I have a special duty as a veteran myself to make sure these service members are honored, appreciated, respected and never forgotten and I will make sure that I myself take time out to pay my respects even if it comes at the cost of doing business on Memorial Day weekend. This is a special debt that we owe all service members who died during their service to our country that can never really, truly be fully repaid. So the best we can all do, is to make sure that we and others understand that these brave men and women died so that others may live and to make sure they are never forgotten. I look forward to Memorial Day to honor these brave men and women and to some of the Memorial Day events.
